Landscape Paintings
My first step into landscapes were based on very specific stories of places that have to do with the South and the recompletion of the South. It is hard to ignore a sense of redemption as I pass Kennesaw Mountain every day. In thinking about the battles fought here – there is a direct narrative of triumph over adversity. Some of my landscape paintings were painted using some of the soil taken from different sites at this historic battlefield.
The landscapes are abstract but have a sense of the specific place because of this material connection.
